From http://www.daniellem.com/

Danielle Miraglia

Danielle Miraglia (murr-Ä L e a)

A strong steady thumb on an old Gibson guitar is the driving force behind Danielle Miraglia’s delta blues influenced guitar style. Add a raw, powerful, whiskey tinged voice and one might be tempted to label her a blues artist. But while Miraglia’s style pays homage to these blues traditions, her classic rock verve, catchy melodies and eclectic array of song subjects that range from deeply personal to socially relevant give it an original twist that is all her own. A fresh sound along with a sharp wit and a captivating stage presence is gaining her fans all over the map. “It won’t be long before the rest of the country takes notice.” – Performing Songwriter.

Raised just outside of Boston in Revere, MA, where its famous beach is better known for girls with big hair than its history as a popular tourist attraction, Miraglia was raised on a variety of popular music, from her parent’s Motown records to the classic rock influences like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin that encouraged her to learn to play guitar at thirteen. A passion for the arts and an outstanding gift for writing lead her to Emerson College in Boston’s downtown theater district. After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing, she put her writing skills, originally intended for novels, towards songwriting and began performing at open mike nights in the Boston area. This set in motion what would become a full-time career in music.

In 2001, she released her debut EP “Bad Poetry,” followed by a second release “Just Wrong Enough” in 2002. From there the songs poured out and the gigs flowed in. Since 2002 she has headlined some of the most renowned blues and folk music venues in Boston, toured major cities from north to south and beyond, while earning street cred vigorously busking the streets of Harvard Square.

Her latest self-produced release, “Nothing Romantic” has received rave reviews.

The songs range from heartfelt as in “Moment by Moment” a gospel-like promise to live in the present, to thought-provoking as in “You Don’t Know Nothin’” which Jon Sobel of Blogcritics.com describes as “One of the best new folk songs I’ve heard in years. Its depiction and dissection of human misunderstanding is both sharp and tender. All you need to know about what drives people apart and what draws them together can be witnessed in a few hours spent in a bar. Many of us feel something along those lines, but Danielle Miraglia is that rare songwriter who can put it into words.”

“Miraglia is not afraid to evoke unusual and somewhat uncomfortable imagery,” says Laura Brereton of The Northeast Performer

“This third release for Danielle Miraglia has proven she consistently delivers an intriguing style of country-folk with an occasional scrape with the blues. Whether backed by a player (or 4) or just her ‘n her guitar, each song holds its own ground…” — Boston Girl Guide

If you’ve got to go there to know there, then Miraglia has been there and back twice. The continually growing fan-base and attention she has received in a short time is a clear testament to her talent and growth as a writer and performer. With poignant themes that get under the listener’s skin, she leaves music fans and critics alike yearning for more.

“A beautiful, charismatic woman with a sexy voice, she doesn’t have to be a good songwriter-she could fill a room if she performed exclusively Hall and Oates covers- but she is. A heart-on-sleeve storyteller with an innate sense for melody, her voice bends and sinks and floats in all the right places, with a raspy, whiskey bottle scrape most reminiscent of Lucinda Williams.”-Dissolver Magazine

“Her husky alto is both engaging and world wary…” — Patriot Ledger

Friday Night Dance in the Park After Dark Featuring Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band and Trout Fishing in America. Saturday and Sunday in Basin Spring Park.

The evening was kicked off with Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band. Wow! There were more than a few people who were blown away with these guys. Blues? Rock? How about Rocking Blues. The show was amazing! A lot of audience participation really ramped up the dynamic of the show. When it was time for Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band to leave the stage, the audience was still begging for more! We will be having these guys back in the near future!

Around 8:30 Trout Fishing in America took the stage. They have been playing for 36 years and it shows. With the release of their new CD they are back on the map again, not that they ever actually were off the map! Great tunes from years past mixed with many new songs gave us a great show. Fans from all over the Ozarks and surrounding areas were given a wonderful show.

Saturday in Basin Spring Park started out with the old west balladeer Jeff Lee. His original songs sung in the style of old west tunes is always something great! Pope County Bootleggers were next. Amazing energy and great tunes flowed from the stage. Next the Fabulous Hogscalders graced our stage with Steve Jones and Arkansas Red giving us their renditions of some old standards. Awesome Possums played some great tunes for us and the Cajon Sol Finished the day with some traditional New Orleans style music. All in all Saturday was a wonderful day for music in Basin Spring Park.

You could not asked for a more beautiful day in Basin Spring Park on Sunday. Sunny and cool weather set the stage for Brent Pierce with special guest Fred Mayer. Next Susan Shore was up with her beautiful songs and superior guitar playing. Effron White was up next and his bumper stickers sums it all up: Effron White – Effin Right! Then our good friend from Punkin Head, Paul Boatright graced our stage with his keyboard and played us some really great tunes. Finally to close our day, our very own Kosmik Debris played us some Eureka Springs Originals.

It was a beautiful weekend and we had some very nice talent on the stage at Basin Spring Park. If you missed it, well, you REALLY missed out. Be sure to check our calendar for more great music coming up!

As many of you already know, Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ike was devastating to the Texas Coast and left a trail of destruction as it traveled north. I cannot speak of any damage firsthand other than what it did here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. In the very early hours of Sunday morning the Ike met up with very strong Canadian cold front. We experienced very strong straight line wind and torrential down pours for several hours.

At 6:30 in the morning as the first rays of sunshine started to light the sky, I surveyed the damage. Driving down Main St (HWY 23 North) was a chore in itself. There was a mixture of deep runoff (around 8 inches deep) and a huge amount of debris in the roadway. Trees were blown down and many of them were laying across power lines. Most all of Eureka Springs and surrounding areas were without power.

Even now at around 2:00pm many places are still without power. Some areas won’t have power until Wednesday at the very earliest. Cleaning up is going to take a very long time and it will take months if not years to recover from this. I know that we were pretty luck for the most part. Other areas were hit much harder. And though we are thankful for our luck we have the thoughts of those who were not so lucky in our minds.
